Behind the Theme — The Thought Behind Every Candle

Behind the Theme — The Thought Behind Every Candle

Every candle has a shape, a scent, a color.

But behind all of that, there is always a thought.

At Candle Treats Studio, what we create is not just a candle—it’s a process of understanding materials, testing ideas, and slowly turning a feeling into something real.

It Begins With a Simple Question

Before any candle is made, there’s always a starting point:

What do we want this candle to feel like?

Not just how it looks.

Not just how it smells.

But how it exists in a space.

That question guides everything that comes after.

Choosing Materials Is Part of the Story

Candle materials are more complex than they seem. Even something as common as soy wax comes in many different forms, each behaving differently when melted, mixed, and burned.

All of our wax, fragrance, and supplies are carefully selected from local candle suppliers in British Columbia. Staying local allows us to be closer to the materials we use—and more intentional with every choice we make.

Because the truth is, materials don’t just support the candle.

They shape it.

Making a Candle Feels Like an Experiment

Once the materials are chosen, the real process begins.

And honestly, it doesn’t feel like manufacturing.

It feels like experimenting.

You adjust temperatures.

You test how fragrance blends with wax.

You wait, observe, and sometimes start over.

In those moments, the process feels almost like being a scientist—not in a strict, technical way, but in a curious, hands-on way.

You’re constantly asking:

What happens if I change this?

What happens if I try again?

And that’s where the most interesting results come from.

Not Every Result Is Perfect

Some candles don’t turn out the way we expect.

The surface might not be smooth.

The scent might not settle the way we imagined.

The burn might need adjustment.

But those moments are never wasted.

They become part of the process—quiet lessons that slowly shape how we improve.

Over time, those small adjustments turn into something more consistent, more refined, and more intentional.

When Design Becomes Meaning

Sometimes, a candle begins with a visual idea.

One of our pieces was inspired by Almond Blossom by Vincent van Gogh.

It wasn’t about copying the artwork exactly, but about capturing a similar feeling—something soft, calm, and quietly present.

That’s often what we look for in design:

Not just how it looks,

but how it feels to live with it.

Why This Process Matters

In the end, what we create is still a candle.

But the process behind it changes how it exists.

It becomes something made with time, attention, and curiosity—rather than speed.

Something tested, adjusted, and understood.

A Small Intention

When you light a Candle Treats Studio candle,

we hope you don’t just notice the scent.

We hope you feel the intention behind it.

Something calm.

Something thoughtful.

Something that was made, slowly.
